MPs’ expenses: Labour members urged to publish details

Tony Lloyd, the chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party, has written to all Labour MPs and suggested they should publish all their expense details. He is going to publish his in his local paper next Monday, well in advance of the official publication on July 1st.

Backed by Labour backbenchers including Don Touhig, the chairman of the Commons Members’ Allowances Committee, Mr Lloyd said that it was “very important” that MPs act on their own initiative to put their expenses into the public domain as a matter of urgency “as a first step to meeting our constituents’ anger”.

As a constituent of the Rother Valley, I hope my MP Kevin Barron takes this advice.
